“I Do, I Do”

Hello Everyone!!

It’s been quite a while that I’ve posted anything.  To make it short, on May 27th I lost my dear Aunt Mary to Lupus.  It was a difficult month but a blessing at the same time.  I say blessing because not many have the “gift” to say good-bye to a love one and to let them know how much they love them and how they were blessed to have them in their life.  Aunt Mary was not only able to spend time with her husband, children, grandchildren & great-grandchildren but also with nieces, nephews & sisters and brother, and friends.

During her last week, I spend most of my time at her home helping the family.  The stories I heard from neighbors & friends about her generosity and how she helped them when there was no one else to help them and how she gave of herself to them — not just what she did but her time.   I could write about her — volumes of books — and still never be able to tell all about her and who she was.  I will miss her terribly but I am blessed that I had the opportunity to have had a wonderful, beautiful (inside & out) and awesome Aunt.

So that was my month of May.  And now, it’s time for me to come back to the stamping world.  This week’s theme at Hand Stamped Sentiments is Wedding items and my task to create wedding favors.

I love working with vellum and had not done much with it for quite some time.  So I decided to color my cardstock vellum with Marina Mist and then use a textured impressions embossing folder to give texture to the vellum.   Using the Sizzix dies(Pillow Box and the Big Z Candy Wrapper), I created two wedding favors.

I also created a picture frame (“Ready to Make” canvas frame) which I embossed simply in gold.  This can be used as a wonderful wedding favor.

I hope you enjoy these projects.  Have a wonderful week.

Mother’s Day Gift Ideas

Hello All!  Well the last two weeks have been  busy at the Cieslak home — so my sincere apologies for not posting.  I’ll try to do better from now on.

I can’t believe that this special day is coming so soon.   It’s that “special” day when Mom gets to have that day off from everything — well almost.  This week’s challenge at Hand Stamped Sentiments is Mother’s Day Gift ideas.

Here are my ideas — a Mother’s day card and a 3×3 desk set.  I’ll be making the desk sets for my cousins (and I have lots of them) for a Mother’s day gift.   In case you’re wondering where I got the acrylic desk set — it’s also one of those items that I bought years ago at a Dollar Store that have been packed away just waiting for me to finally come up with an idea to use hem.  The card I’ll give to my mom; but then she’ll give it back to me so that I can put it up on my display board.

I do have to share with you a cute “story”.  My husband, Don, will spend hours at a card store looking for the special card to give me — the card that has that special message just for me for that  “special” occasion.   Of course,  I save all his cards.  So when we were packing up our household items for our big move from California to Texas, he found that stash of cards I’ve been saving for the last 20 years.   You don’t want to throw them away, so you just spray perfume on them and use them as liners for your dresser drawers.  It was then that he found all my cards & realized that he has been buying the same cards (for that particular occasion) each year.   I just didn’t have the heart to tell him since he really puts a lot of effort finding me that perfect card.  Hmmm…..so the big “H” card company doesn’t really create new cards; I can attest to that.  I did think about giving him that particular card and just having him cross out the date and put in a new date.  That way it would save him time and money and he could just give me that money and I can buy more STAMPS & ACCESSORIES!!!

So here are my two ideas to share with you.  Both quick and easy to make.

Nature Walk

I just had to share with you two beautiful cards created by a friend who is new to stamping.   I love this stamp set, “Nature Walk” and have seen many beautiful cards created by many talented stampers.

I went to drop off a shipment for my friend Sandra and she wanted to share with me what she had been up to — Stamping!!!    Here are two of her beautiful cards.  For someone who has just started to learn the art of rubber stamping, Sandra is doing very well.  She is a talented and lovely lady; and I’m so happy that I had the opportunity to share with her my love for stamping/papercrafting.    Enjoy her cards; I am!

HSS Challenge #63 – Easter Gift Ideas

Spring is here and shortly, Easter!!   This week’s challenge at Hand Stamped Sentiments is Easter gifts.

Funny though, I always relate Easter as the “OK” to start wearing white shoes.  Except! if you live in Hawaii — it’s always OK to wear white shoes.

Finally!!! Hooray!!!!   I get to use the only Easter stamp set I own that has not been discontinued/retired.   I love this cute set.   This week I created a faux Easter Basket using a stampable mug/cup and put all the goodies in the cup.   That way, it’s a functional present.   The children will each receive an Easter mug this year, which will have more goodies than shown on the picture.

My favorite candy was always a Russell Stover’s marshmallow chocolate covered egg.  I rarely found it where I lived in California.  But now that I’m a Texas resident — well there’s resourceful to satisfy my sugar taste buds.  Since it’s easy for me to gain the extra pounds (even by just looking at it), I’ve stamped a candy wrapper for my delectable delight and will wait patiently until Easter Sunday to enjoy it.    In fact, I purchased several.  And all have been wrapped in a stamped design and will be used as a favor to place at each table setting for our Easter dinner.

The card itself was a very quick and easy one to create.  The Sizzix Texturized Impressions Folders really are beautiful and are so easy to use.  I used the “Elegant Bouquet” folder.  Just add pearls to the flowers, Seam Binding ribbon (so pretty and soft),  and do some sponging using the daubers (so you don’t have to worry about inky pinkies) and “Voila!” —  you have an Easter Card.

So here are my projects to share with you — quick and easy little gifts create and to give this season.

HSS Challenge #62 – Pink-A-Licious

Pink-a-licious is the theme this week.  A nice color to bring in the new season of Spring!!  And all the Pink-A-licious creativity you’re going to see this week at Hand Stamped Sentiments (HSS).

I tried to use as much pink in different shades  — Pink Pirouette, Pretty in Pink, and my favorite Melon Mambo.   Well, it’s the “new”  pink to me.    I stamped a canvas picture frame using an old retired stamp set that I really love and still have — DD Tulips.    Since five members of the HSS reside in San Antonio, Texas — I took the opportunity to take a picture of the ladies to use in the frame.

The gift box & 3×3 cards were a “last minute” design.  I had created a card but I realized that my assigned project was not a card but a gift set — Like duh!!!  Back to the drawing board and start creating something.   The box itself is not my creation.  I got the instructions from Angie Juda’s site Chic’n Scratch Live!  Check it out — she did an awesome job on the tutorial for the box.   The 3×3 note cards are my designs and I really had a great time creating these cards.  Below is the list of supplies I used to create these items.

HSS Challenge #60 – Blooming Blossoms

Hello!   This is a great week for me!!!  It’s “Dancing with the Stars” time as well as “American Idol”.  So it also means that I will be in my craft room with my TV on watching my favorite shows and stamping.   “Pride and Prejudice”,
“Emma”, “Sense & Sensibility” and “Persuasion” (all movies based on Jane Austen’s books) have been put away for this season.

This week’s challenge at Hand Stamped Sentiments is Blooming Blossoms.  My task was to create a gift set.  So here are two ideas — both quick and easy.

The first is a Soap & Toothbrush Dispenser set.  I had purchased the “stampable” dispensers many years ago at a rubber stamp convention — 10 years ago to be exact.  I guess I was just waiting for the right project to come along as well as the right Designer Series Paper (Greenhouse Gala) to inspire me to finally use this set and create.

The second item is also a quick and easy project — a desk set with matching pen.   I actually had this on my desk, so I decided to upgrade it by changing the pattern.    What makes this a real quick and easy project, is that I used the Stampin’Up! Greenhouse Gala DSP and cardstock.  No stamping involved at all!!!   I love using the punches so I took the opportunity to use the Scallop Trim Punch to embellish.   If you’re wondering what do to for a Hostess set, this is a great idea!!!

I hope these ideas will help you.  Thank you for dropping in and visiting my site.   Have a wonderful week!!!
